Regular Season Round 20: Shumen - Rilski 63-92
Date: February 12, 2023
NBL top team - Rilski (19-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eleventh ranked Shumen (3-17) 92-63. Rilski dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Shumen's 24. They outrebounded Shumen 45-33 including a 35-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by the former international point guard Deyan Karamfilov (180-1994, agency: BIG) who scored that evening 12 points, 6 assists and 4 steals and the former international forward Yordan Minchev (202-1998) supported him with 10 points and 8 rebounds. Even 28 points by American guard Ishmael El-Amin (190, college: URI, agency: BIG) did not help to save the game for Shumen. Point guard Adriyan Sekulov (179-1996) added 5 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rilski maintains first position with 19-1 record. Shumen lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 17 games lost. Rilski will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Shumen will play again at home against the league's leader Rilski (#1) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
