Regular Season Round 18: Cherkasy - Dnipro 53-71

Everything went according to plan when third ranked Dnipro (13-6) beat on the road 8th ranked Cherkasy (4-15) 71-53 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Dnipro. Cherkasy managed to win fourth quarter 16-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Dnipro looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Cherkasy's players. The best player for the winners was the former international center Sergiy Zagreba (214-1994, agency: BIG) who scored 27 points and 8 rebounds. Point guard Maksym Zakurdaev (196-1993) chipped in 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Dnipro's coach used entire bench saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Demetrius Lake (180, college: GVSU) who recorded 30 points and 5 rebounds and center Sergii Skira (210-2000) added 8 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Dnipro have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 13-6 record having eight points less than leader Budivelnyk. Loser Cherkasy keeps the eighth place with 15 games lost. Dnipro will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Cherkasy will play against Kyiv Basket (#4) and hope to secure a win.
