Regular Season Round 20: Shumen - Levski 67-78

Very expected game when 11th ranked Shumen (3-17) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Levski (12-8) 78-67 on Thursday. Levski outrebounded Shumen 42-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American-Haitian center John Florveus (211-1990, college: Georgia, agency: BIG) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). The former international point guard Asen Velikov (188-1986) chipped in 16 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Forward Georgi Kenderov (200-1999) produced 20 points and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and American guard Ishmael El-Amin (190, college: URI, agency: BIG) added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Levski moved-up to third place, which they share with CSKA. Shumen lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 17 games lost. Levski will meet Yambol (#8) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Shumen will play against the league's leader Rilski and hope to secure a win.
