There was a small surprise in Valencia where tenth ranked Godella (7-13) won against 7th ranked Gran Canaria 2 (9-11) 93-77 on Friday. Godella made 24-of-29 free shots (82.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Gran Canaria 2 turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Diego Rivas (198-2003) who scored 23 points. Forward Sergio de Larrea (197-2005) chipped in 12 points and 5 assists. Slovenian point guard Dan Duscak (185-2002) produced 17 points and 5 assists and Dominican forward Yeikson Montero (196-1996, college: EMU) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Godella and five Gran Canaria 2 players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Godella maintains tenth position with 7-13 record, which they share with 3 other teams. Gran Canaria 2 lost eighth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Ponferrada and Melilla. Godella will meet higher ranked Cartagena (#7) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Gran Canaria 2 will play against Palma in S'Arenal and hope to secure a win.
