There was an upset when higher ranked AEL (10-8) was edged on the road by tenth ranked E.N. Paralimni (5-13) 104-103 on Friday. AEL trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 32-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 103-104 at the end of the game. E.N. Paralimni forced 20 AEL turnovers and had a 20-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American Xavier Ford (203-1993, college: Buffalo) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds and American-Nigerian forward Stephen Ugochukwu (201-1996, college: McNeese St.) who added 20 points and 17 rebounds during the contest. Ugochukwu is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American guard Tray Buchanan (185-1998, college: Emporia St.) responded with a triple-double by scoring 28 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists and the former international Marios Georgiou (201-1991) produced a double-double by scoring 29 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. E.N. Paralimni moved-up to ninth place, which they share with APOP. Loser AEL keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. E.N. Paralimni will meet APOP (#10) in the next round. AEL will play against AEK Larnaca (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
