Regular Season Round 19: Leeuwarden - Groningen 88-80

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both third ranked Leeuwarden and 5th ranked Groningen had identical 10-7 record. This time Leeuwarden used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from Groningen 88-80 on Saturday night. Strangely Groningen outrebounded Leeuwarden 39-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 55.2 percentage. The best player for the winners was Canadian guard Keevan Veinot (193, college: Dalhousie) who scored 33 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds (perfect from downtown making all five shots). Icelandic swingman Kristinn Palsson (198-1997, college: Marist) chipped in 21 points. At the other side the best for losing team was Swedish forward Viktor Gaddefors (201-1992, agency: 011 Sports) who recorded 17 points and 9 rebounds and forward Willem Brandwijk (204-1995, college: IUP) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Groningen's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Leeuwarden maintains third position with 11-7 record having seven points less than leader Den Bosch, which they share with Mechelen and Zwolle. Loser Groningen keeps the fifth place with eight games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams.
