There was a minor upset in Sofia where one of their biggest challengers CSKA 2 (11-6) was defeated by sixth ranked Polytechnica (8-7) 89-85 on Sunday. Polytechnica outrebounded CSKA 2 48-30 including a 38-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by CSKA 2's players. The best player for the winners was forward Omar Al-Ayubi (198-1991) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Ivaylo Konstantinov (181-1980) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points, 9 rebounds and 12 assists. Five Polytechnica players scored in double figures. Guard Martin Rusev (188-2004) produced 25 points and 5 rebounds and forward Aleksandar Aleksandrov (196-2004) added 22 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. CSKA 2's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Polytechnica maintains sixth position with 8-7 record. Newly promoted CSKA 2 dropped to the fifth place with six games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
