Regular Season Round 21: TTT Riga - Neptunas 89-79

There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Latvian TTT Riga (10-6) defeated at home their close opponent Lithuanian Neptunas (10-6) 89-79 on Saturday. TTT Riga dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Neptunas' 34. They outrebounded Neptunas 38-27 including 23 on the defensive glass. TTT Riga looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American forward Dekeiya Cohen (188-1996, college: Baylor) stepped up and scored 33 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds for the winners and forward Kate Vilka (184-1996, college: Fordham) chipped in 33 points (!!!) (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field). TTT Riga's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was Ukrainian swingman Viktoria Balaban (176-1997, agency: BIG) with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Lithuanian Ligita Tamutyte (177-1999) scored 12 points and 5 assists. Five Neptunas players scored in double figures. TTT Riga have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending Latvian champion moved-up to fourth place, which they share with defeated Neptunas. Neptunas lost fifth consecutive game. TTT Riga will meet at home bottom-ranked Audentes (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Neptunas will play against Aistes-LSMU (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
