There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Bonn 2 (12-10) won against at home 3rd placed Koeln DTV (13-9) 96-78 on Saturday. Bonn 2 made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was Canadian point guard Justin Andrew (183, college: St.Francis X.) who scored 32 points and 5 rebounds. American forward Jamel McAllister (201-1991, college: WSSU) chipped in 24 points. Five Bonn 2 players scored in double figures. Valentin Blass (198-1995) produced 15 points and 6 rebounds and American-British guard Elijah Jenkins (190, college: Embry Riddle) added 11 points and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Koeln DTV's coach tested twelve players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the third consecutive win for Bonn 2. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Lich Basketball and Hagen-Haspe. Newly promoted Koeln DTV keeps the third position with nine games lost. They share it with Muenster 2. Bonn 2 will meet Recklinghausen (#10) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Koeln DTV will play against Muenster 2 (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
