No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked AEK (10-7) crushed 9th ranked Ionikos (4-13) in Aigaleo 98-79 on Saturday. AEK had a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American-Jamaican guard Brynton Lemar (193-1995, college: UC Davis) nailed 20 points for the winning side and the former international point guard Dimitris Flionis (188-1997) accounted for 11 points and 8 assists. The former international center Loukas Mavrokefalidis (207-1984) came up with 25 points and 9 rebounds and the former international guard Vangelis Mantzaris (196-1990) added 8 points and 9 assists respectively for Ionikos in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. AEK moved-up to third place, which they share with Peristeri and Promitheas. Loser Ionikos dropped to the tenth position with 13 games lost. AEK will meet at home Kolossos HH (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Ionikos will play against Apollon P. in Patras and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
