There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Aachen (5-17) defeated at home higher ranked Recklinghausen (9-12) 92-81 on Saturday. Aachen looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was swingman Tim Schoenborn (193-1990) who scored 24 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Aleksandar Obradovic (196-1998) chipped in 10 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Five Aachen players scored in double figures. Aachen's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Obi Okafor (198, college: Drury, agency: GoEmpire Group) produced a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds and Slovenian power forward Tine Kotnik (205-2000) added 19 points respectively for the guests. Newly promoted Aachen maintains fourteenth place with 5-17 record. Recklinghausen lost their sixth game in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Loewen. Aachen will meet league's second-placed Ibbenbueren on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Recklinghausen will play against Bonn 2 (#5) and hope to secure a win.
