There was a small surprise when twelfth ranked Bensheim (8-14) beat at home 9th ranked Reutlingen (9-13) 81-66 on Saturday. Bensheim forced 19 Reutlingen turnovers and outrebounded them 41-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Marc Liyanage (199-1990, college: Delta St.) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. Canadian point guard Reece Brooks (178, college: Lindsey Wilson) chipped in 16 points and 7 assists. Noel Duarte (186-2001) produced 12 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Kilian Fischer (184-2002) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Bensheim moved-up to eleventh place. Loser Reutlingen dropped to the tenth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Leverkusen 2. Bensheim will meet at home higher ranked TV Langen (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Reutlingen will play against Limburg (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
