There was no surprise in Villeurbanne where 11th ranked Strasbourg (9-13) was defeated by second ranked ASVEL (17-4) 87-70 on Saturday. ASVEL forced 19 Strasbourg turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Strasbourg's players. Gambian center Babacar Mbye (212-2002) had a double-double by scoring 25 points, 13 rebounds and 5 blocks to lead the charge for the winners and guard Noah Manet (194-2004) chipped in 10 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists during the contest. Four ASVEL players scored in double figures. At the losing side power forward Maxim Ilvovskiy (203-2002) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and guard Bastien Rieber (187-2005) scored 14 points and 5 assists. ASVEL have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 17-4 record having four points less than leader Cholet. Loser Strasbourg keeps the eleventh place with 13 games lost. ASVEL will meet Nanterre (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Strasbourg will play against Paris BA and hope to secure a win.
