Everything could happen in Madrid at the game between two tied teams. Both twelfth ranked Real Canoe and 11th ranked Talavera had identical 7-13 record. This time Real Canoe used a home court advantage and edged the opponent from Talavera 70-69 on Saturday night. Forward Gabriel Gil (200-2001) stepped up and scored 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and forward Mario Alvarez (202-1991) chipped in 9 points and 5 rebounds. Real Canoe's coach Borja Gonzalez used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was Canadian-British forward Kemel Archer (198-1995, college: Laurier) with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 15 rebounds and Elijah Mcray scored 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Talavera players scored in double figures. Real Canoe (8-13) moved-up to tenth place. Newly promoted Talavera keeps the eleventh position with 14 games lost. They share it with Moron and Salou. Real Canoe will meet at home higher ranked Melilla (#9) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Talavera will play against the league's leader Burgos where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
