There was a small surprise when seventh ranked Gijon Basket (11-9) defeated on the road 4th placed La Leonesa (13-7) 79-70 on Sunday. Strangely La Leonesa outrebounded Gijon Basket 47-28 including 33 on the defensive glass. American-Senegalese forward Cheikh Kebe (206-1997, college: FMU) nailed 22 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and forward Miguel Gonzalez (195-2000) accounted for 16 points. Power forward Fernando Revilla (203-2001) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds and Argentinian swingman Federico Copes (199-2002) added 19 points respectively for La Leonesa in the defeat. La Leonesa's coach tested twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Gijon Basket have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 5 other teams. Loser La Leonesa dropped to the third position with seven games lost. They share it with 3 other teams.
