Regular Season Round 17: Kolossos HH - Olympiacos 79-80

Eighth-ranked Kolossos HH (8-8) used its home court advantage to challenge leader Olympiacos (16-0) in Rodou. The visitors from Piraeus managed to secure only one-point victory 80-79. However their fans expected much easier game. Olympiacos made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Cypriot-Bulgarian forward Aleksandar Vezenkov (206-1995) stepped up and scored 33 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and the former international forward Kostas Papanikolaou (204-1990) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. American-Georgian guard Michael Dixon (186-1990, college: Memphis) responded with 14 points and 4 assists and the former international forward Charis Giannopoulos (206-1989) scored 17 points. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Olympiacos have an impressive series of sixteen victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 16-0 record. Kolossos HH lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with eight games lost. Olympiacos will play against Promitheas (#5) in Patras in the next round. Kolossos HH will play on the road against AEK in Athens and hopes to get back on the winning track.
