Regular Season Round 21: Cartagena - Cornella 73-66

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 6th ranked Cornella (12-9) was defeated on the road by seventh ranked Cartagena (11-10) 73-66 on Sunday. Center Sergio Mendiola (207-1996) stepped up and scored 25 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and guard Victor Aguilar (185-1998) chipped in 17 points and 4 assists. Cartagena's coach Gustavo Aranzana used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was forward Isaac Mayo (195-2001, agency: BIG) with 18 points and 8 rebounds and guard Alex Llorca (192-1989) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. The victory was the third consecutive win for Cartagena. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Zamora. Loser Cornella dropped to the fifth position with nine games lost. They share it with Algeciras. Cartagena will meet league's leader Prat on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
