Very predictable result when first ranked Njardvik (16-3) defeated at home 7th ranked Thor Thorl (8-11) 117-113 on Thursday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Thor Thorl won third quarter 27-26. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Njardvik made 32-of-35 free shots (91.4 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 Thor Thorl turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American point guard Dedrick Basile (178-1994, college: CSUB) fired 31 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Argentinian Lisandro Rasio (197-1990) chipped in a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds. American point guard Vinnie Shahid (180-1998, college: NDSU) produced a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 10 assists and American-French forward Jordan Semple (201-1992, college: Chico St.) added 8 points, 21 rebounds and 4 blocks respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Njardvik have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain first place with 16-3 record. Thor Thorl at the other side keeps the seventh position with 11 games lost. They share it with Breidablik and Stjarnan. Njardvik will meet bottom-ranked KR (#12) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Thor Thorl will play against Tindastoll (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
