The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Rasta Vechta (21-5) in Karlsruhe on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by sixth ranked Lions (15-11) 92-81. 24 personal fouls committed by Rasta Vechta helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Naturalized Ivorian guard Bazoumana Kone (190-1993, college: Bremerhaven) orchestrated the victory by scoring 31 points and 6 assists. American point guard Ben Shungu (188-1997, college: Vermont) contributed with 20 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American Tajuan Agee (201-1997, college: Iona) replied with 17 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Ryan Schwieger (198-1999, college: Loyola, IL) added 16 points and 5 assists in the effort for Rasta Vechta. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Rasta Vechta's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Lions have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Giessen and Hagen. Rasta Vechta at the other side still keeps top position with five games lost. Lions is looking forward to face Uni Baskets (#8) in Paderborn in the next round. Rasta Vechta will play at home against SparkassenStars (#11) and is hoping to win this game.
