Regular Season Round 25: Inter Bratislava - Lucenec 72-85

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 5th ranked Inter Bratislava (12-13) lost at home to sixth ranked Lucenec (12-13) 85-72. Lucenec dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Inter Bratislava's 26. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American forward Elyjah Goss (201-1998, college: IUPUI) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import forward Taren Valdis Sullivan (198-1995, college: Findlay, OH) chipped in 15 points and 5 assists. Five Lucenec players scored in double figures. At the losing side Lithuanian center Tomas Zdanavicius (203-1996, agency: Octagon Europe) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 13 rebounds and Lithuanian Jonas Zakas (190-1997) scored 21 points and 7 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Lucenec. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with defeated Inter Bratislava. Lucenec will play against higher ranked Komarno (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Inter Bratislava will play against Handlova and hopes to get back on the winning track.
