Regular Season Round 19: Panevezio - VKKM 108-106

The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked VKKM (15-4) on the court of seventh ranked Panevezio on Sunday night. Visitors were edged by Panevezio 108-106. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 27-19. But VKKM won second period 28-27. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Panevezio looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Nikas Stuknys (194-2005) who helped to win the game recording 30 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Arnas Stankevicius (-2005) contributed with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Forward Paulius Narvilas (197-2006) answered with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 19 rebounds and guard Kristupas Lesciauskas (190-2005) added 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for VKKM. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Panevezio have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain seventh place with 10-9 record. VKKM at the other side still keeps top position with four games lost. Panevezio are looking forward to face higher ranked Saule (#5) in Siauliai in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. VKKM's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Vilniaus SKM I.
