Second Stage Round 2: Boulogne - Challans 99-86

There was a minor upset when Vendee Challans lost to SO Maritime Boulogne in Boulogne-sur-Mer 86-99 on Tuesday. SO Maritime Boulogne outrebounded Vendee Challans 41-23 including a 17-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Serbian-Montenegrin power forward Luka Nikolic (209-1994) notched a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and Matthias Flosse (210-1998) supported him with 25 points and 9 rebounds. Even 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) by naturalized American forward Marc Gosselin (201-1996, college: WCU) did not help to save the game for Vendee Challans. Point guard Thibault Desseignet (178-1998) added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. SO Maritime Boulogne will meet Tours on the road in the next round. Vendee Challans will play against Besancon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
