Regular Season Round 23: Torrent - Paterna 59-56

There was no surprise when 11th ranked Paterna (8-15) was edged on the road by fifth ranked Torrent (15-8) 59-56 on Wednesday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Torrent shot 21 for 32 from the free-throw line, while Paterna only scored five points from the stripe. It was a great evening for center Lucas Blasco (197-1998) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 19 rebounds. Swingman Andreu Saez (192-2004) helped adding 18 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Hector Marco (197-2003) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and Diego Cebrian (-2004) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Torrent. They maintain fifth place with 15-8 record. Loser Paterna dropped to the tenth position with 15 games lost. Torrent will meet league's second-placed Puerto Sagunto in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Paterna will play against Alginet B (#13) and hope to secure a win.
