Rather expected game when 6th ranked Hoverla (8-17) was rolled over on the road by third ranked Dnipro (18-7) 81-52 on Friday. The game without a history. Dnipro led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Hoverla's 22. They outrebounded Hoverla 48-23 including a 35-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Dnipro made 7 blocks. The former international forward Stanislav Tymofeyenko (205-1989, agency: Octagon Europe) had a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Maksym Zakurdaev (196-1993) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Dnipro players scored in double figures. At the losing side point guard Sergey Startsev (190-1997, agency: BIG) responded with 11 points and forward Artem Vodolazsky (198-1992) scored 9 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Dnipro moved-up to second place. Newly promoted Hoverla keeps the sixth position with 17 games lost. Dnipro will meet at home Cherkasy (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Hoverla will play against Zaporizhye in Zaporozhye and hope to secure a win.
