There was no surprise when 5th ranked Bonn 2 (12-12) was defeated at home by second ranked Ibbenbueren (16-8) 87-72 on Saturday. Ibbenbueren dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Bonn 2's 34. They outrebounded Bonn 2 49-30 including 16 on the offensive glass. Argentinian Victorio Dente (193-1992) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and point guard Niklas Husmann (187-1998) chipped in 21 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Four Ibbenbueren players scored in double figures. At the losing side Canadian point guard Justin Andrew (183, college: St.Francis X.) responded with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and American forward Jamel McAllister (201-1991, college: WSSU) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Ibbenbueren. They maintain second place with 16-8 record having just three points less than leader Saarlouis. Loser Bonn 2 dropped to the sixth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Hagen BG and Hagen-Haspe. Ibbenbueren will meet at home Muenster 2 (#4) in the next round. Bonn 2 will play against Hagen-Haspe and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
