Regular Season Round 25: Aachen - Hagen-Haspe 100-97

There was an upset when higher ranked Hagen-Haspe (12-12) was edged on the road by fourteenth ranked Aachen (6-18) 100-97 on Saturday. Aachen made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Swingman Tim Schoenborn (193-1990) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and American forward Sasha French (211-1996, college: Azusa Pacific) chipped in 23 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side American swingman Ricardo Artis II (198-1993, college: Wiley) responded with 34 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and Dutch point guard Sven Cikara (188-2001, agency: One Motive Sports) scored 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Aachen maintains fourteenth place with 6-18 record. Hagen-Haspe lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the sixth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Hagen BG and Bonn 2. Aachen will meet higher ranked Hamm (#11) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hagen-Haspe will play against Bonn 2 (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
