There was an upset when higher ranked ratiopharm Ulm (12-11) lost to fifteenth ranked Hakro Merlins (8-14) in Crailsheim 68-76 on Saturday. Hakro Merlins dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to ratiopharm Ulm's 16. Hakro Merlins forced 26 ratiopharm Ulm turnovers. The winners were led by American Jaren Lewis (201-1996, college: ACU) who scored that evening 14 points and 9 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and the former international Maurice Stuckey (187-1990) supported him with 14 points and 5 assists. Four Hakro Merlins players scored in double figures. Hakro Merlins' coach Sebastian Gleim used an eleven-player rotation saving starting five for next games. Even 19 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) by Austrian Thomas Klepeisz (186-1991, agency: Octagon Europe) did not help to save the game for ratiopharm Ulm.
