Second Stage Round 5: Dinamo B. - Rapid 99-79

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Bucuresti: Dinamo B. (#8) and Rapid (#3). Dinamo B. (5-8) crushed visiting Rapid (9-4) by 20 points 99-79. It looked good early as Rapid took a 5-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Dinamo B. had a 23-15 second period charge getting the lead and Rapid was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 79-99. Dinamo B. dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Rapid's 26. They outrebounded Rapid 32-20 including 25 on the defensive glass. Dinamo B. players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. The former international point guard Andrei Mandache (190-1987, agency: BIG) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points and 7 rebounds. The former international forward Vlad Moldoveanu (206-1988, college: American) contributed with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Dinamo B.'s coach Sotiris Manolopoulos allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American Tyler Stone (203-1991, college: SEMO) answered with 25 points and Croatian Josip Bilinovac (191-1990, agency: 011 Sports) added 16 points and 6 assists in the effort for Rapid. Five Dinamo B. and four Rapid players scored in double figures. Dinamo B. moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Pitesti and Craiova. Rapid at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost. Dinamo B. will play against league's second-placed Cluj Napoca on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rapid will play against Voluntari and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
