Undefeated Caen (3-1) recorded its first loss at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were rolled over by sixth ranked Union Rennes (2-2) 94-69. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Caen. Union Rennes forced 20 Caen turnovers. Union Rennes looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Guinean forward Cheick Sekou-Conde (203-1992) who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and American forward Leo Behrend (199-1996, college: Ave Maria) who added 22 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Four Union Rennes players scored in double figures. At the losing side Kenyan-American forward Joel Awich (201-1993, college: Cal Poly) responded with 17 points and 5 rebounds and American center Tyere Marshall (206-1997, college: Rider, agency: SLN) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Union Rennes moved-up to third place, which they share with 9 other teams. Loser Caen keeps the second position with one game lost. They share it with Boulogne. Union Rennes will meet at home STB Le Havre (#5) in the next round. Caen will play against Loon-Plage and hope to secure a win.
