Everything went according to plan when eighth ranked Burgos (15-10) outplayed at home 11th ranked Castello (11-14) 98-48 on Saturday. They outrebounded Castello 37-22 including a 29-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Burgos looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Castello's players. Argentinian forward Gonzalo Corbalan (193-2002, college: LCU) nailed 24 points for the winning side and American guard Khyri Thomas (190-1996, college: Creighton) accounted for 14 points. American point guard Ezekiel Alley (185-1999, college: Portland St., agency: Helping Ballers) came up with 12 points and 7 rebounds and Dutch center Menno Dijkstra (213-1997, college: UC Riverside) added 9 points respectively for Castello in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Burgos moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Alicante and Gipuzkoa. Loser Castello keeps the eleventh position with 14 games lost. Burgos will meet Cantabria (#10) in the next round. Castello will play against Iraurgi SB and hope to secure a win.
