The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Szombathely (21-4) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by eighth ranked Kormend (14-11) 87-80. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Szombathely. 24 personal fouls committed by Szombathely helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Naturalized Nigerian power forward Godwin Omenaka (205-2000) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 16 rebounds for the winners and American point guard Siyani Chambers (183-1993, college: Harvard) chipped in 16 points and 9 assists. At the losing side the former international Zoltan Perl (195-1995) responded with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and Serbian guard Stefan Pot (194-1994) scored 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Kormend and four Szombathely players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kormend moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Defending champion Szombathely still keeps top position with four games lost. Kormend is looking forward to face Atomeromu (#6) in Paks in the next round. Szombathely will play on the road against Arconic-Alba (#3) in Szekesfehervar and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
