Regular Season Round 24: SBA - Aridane 65-92

Everything went according to plan when ninth ranked Aridane (10-12) outplayed 14th ranked SBA (2-20) in Madrid 92-65 on Sunday. Aridane dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to SBA's 30. Aridane forced 21 SBA turnovers and outrebounded them 44-26 including a 31-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by SBA's players. The winners were led by French power forward Philippe Correia (203-2001) who scored that evening 20 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Alejandro Orozco (189-2004) supported him with 19 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. Five Aridane players scored in double figures. Even 33 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 4 assists by Montenegrin forward Bodin Saranovic (196-2004) did not help to save the game for SBA. Guard Victor Fernandez (190-1998) added 12 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Aridane moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 4 other teams. SBA at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fourteenth position with 20 games lost. Aridane will meet at home higher ranked Alcala (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. SBA's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Madrid to the arena Zentro Basket.
