Second Stage Round 4: Den Bosch - Charleroi 88-64

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Belgian Spirou Charleroi (2-2) against ninth ranked Dutch Den Bosch (1-3) on Wednesday night. Visiting Spirou Charleroi was crushed by Den Bosch in Den Bosch 88-64. Den Bosch outrebounded Spirou Charleroi 40-24 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Spirou Charleroi's players. Worth to mention a great performance of center Thomas van der Mars (208-1990, college: Portland) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 7 rebounds. Center Jito Kok (205-1994, college: San Diego) contributed with 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Den Bosch players scored in double figures. Portuguese point guard Rafael Lisboa (184-1999) replied with 15 points and 4 steals and Puerto Rican-Panamanian point guard Jhivvan Jackson (183-1998, college: UTSA) added 13 points and 4 assists in the effort for Spirou Charleroi. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. It was the only win of host team this round and in all other games visitors recorded victories. Defending Dutch champion left bottom position moving up to sixth place, which they share with Feyenoord and Yoast Utd. Spirou Charleroi at the other side keeps the third position with two games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Den Bosch will play against league's second-placed Antwerp Giants at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Spirou Charleroi will play against ZZ Leiden and hopes to get back on the winning track.
