Second Stage Round 6: Vaerlose - Amager 87-92

There was a minor upset when 8th ranked Vaerlose (10-15) lost at home to tenth ranked Amager (6-18) 92-87 on Thursday. Amager outrebounded Vaerlose 57-35 including a 38-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard Mitch Pelissier (190-1997, college: Concordia, IL) notched 25 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals to lead the effort and the other American import forward Jordan Naughton (208-1997, college: Wyoming) supported him with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Pelissier is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four Amager players scored in double figures. Even 25 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists by guard Adam Heede-Andersen (187-1996, college: St.Cloud St.) did not help to save the game for Vaerlose. Guard Karl Formann (190-1998) added 19 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Amager maintains tenth position with 6-18 record. Loser Vaerlose keeps the eighth place with 15 games lost. Amager will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Vaerlose will play against BAC (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
