Regular Season Round 25: Alcobendas - Pozuelo 91-85

Not a big story in a game when 6th ranked Pozuelo (12-10) was defeated on the road by leader Alcobendas (23-0) 91-85 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Strangely Pozuelo outrebounded Alcobendas 57-38 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Forward Iago Ibanez (197-1996) fired a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Jorge Tejera (200-1992) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds. Jose Gil produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 19 rebounds and center Marcos Estebanez (200-1992) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Pozuelo players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the twenty third consecutive win for Alcobendas. They maintain first place with 23-0 record. Loser Pozuelo keeps the sixth position with ten games lost. Alcobendas will meet league's second-placed Guadalajara on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Pozuelo will play against La Matanza (#4) in Las Palmas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
