No shocking result in a game when first ranked Academica (6-1) beat 5th ranked Olhanense (2-5) in Coimbra 73-64 on Saturday. Academica looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for guard Eduardo Guimaraes (185-1992) who led the winners and scored 24 points. Point guard Nuno Brito (180-1996) accounted for 23 points for the winning side. American forward Jalil Myers (198, college: Rosemont) came up with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists and power forward Bruno Fernando (200-1996) added 13 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Olhanense in the defeat. Four Olhanense players scored in double figures. Academica maintains first place with 6-1 record. Loser Olhanense dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. They share it with Queluz. Academica will meet Benfica B (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Olhanense will play against Sampaense (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
