Second Stage Round 5: BAL Weert - Aalst 91-89

BNXT League round 5 caused change at the leadership position. First defeat of league's leader Belgian Okapi Aalst (4-1) against eighth ranked Dutch BAL Weert (1-2) 91-89 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Okapi Aalst. Serbian center Filip Brankovic (202-2003) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 7 rebounds. Belgian Noe Botuli (191-2000) contributed with 23 points for the winners. Montenegrin Ivan Maras (207-1986) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists and American forward Josh Price (205-1996, college: S.Indiana) added 21 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Okapi Aalst. BAL Weert left bottom position moving up to sixth place. Okapi Aalst at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They share it with Liege. They were replaced at the leadership position by Liege. Okapi Aalst will play next round against Yoast Utd. trying to make it back to the top of the standings. BAL Weert will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
