Regular Season Round 27: Lleida - Castello 77-88

There was an upset when higher ranked Lleida (17-10) was defeated at home by eleventh ranked Castello (13-14) 88-77 on Wednesday. Castello made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for Dutch center Menno Dijkstra (213-1997, college: UC Riverside) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points and 7 rebounds. American forward Eric Stutz (203-1992, college: EKU) helped adding 17 points and 7 rebounds. Four Castello players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Argentinian guard Juan Ignacio Marcos (188-2000) with 30 points and 6 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and swingman Miguel Gonzalez (199-1999) scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Castello moved-up to tenth place. Loser Lleida keeps the fifth position with ten games lost. They share it with Valladolid and Alicante. Castello will meet at home higher ranked Estudiantes (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lleida will play against Cantabria in Torrelavega and hope to secure a win.
