Second Stage Round 8: Besancon - Challans 90-105

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Besancon (2-6) lost at home to seventh ranked Vendee Challans (4-4) 105-90 on Friday. Vendee Challans dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Besancon's 36 and made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Vendee Challans forced 22 Besancon turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The winners were led by Bahamas forward Radshad Davis (195-1996, college: FIU) who scored that evening 25 points and 9 rebounds and guard Paul Turpin (192-1993) supported him with 20 points and 4 assists. Even 24 points by Serbian swingman Nikola Knezevic (200-1999) did not help to save the game for Besancon. American Mykal Riley (198-1985, college: Alabama) added 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the hosts. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Vendee Challans moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 5 other teams. Loser Besancon keeps the ninth position with six games lost. They share it with Orchies. Vendee Challans will meet at home Feurs CTC (#8) in the next round. Besancon will play against the league's leader Lorient and hope to secure a win.
