Very expected game when 17th ranked Quimper UJAP (9-18) lost on the road to tenth ranked Etoile Angers (13-14) 93-83 on Friday. Etoile Angers dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Quimper UJAP's 32. They outrebounded Quimper UJAP 37-23 including 24 on the defensive glass. Etoile Angers looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American point guard Akaemji Williams (175-1996, college: LSSU) who led the winners and scored 5 points, 5 rebounds and 20 assists. Swingman Stephan Gauthier (192-1995) accounted for 23 points for the winning side. Point guard Theo Leon (180-1992) came up with 18 points and 6 assists and swingman Elhadji-Digue Diawara (206-1998) added 14 points respectively for Quimper UJAP in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Etoile Angers moved-up to ninth place, which they share with ASA. Loser Quimper UJAP dropped to the sixteenth position with 18 games lost. They share it with Aix-Maurienne. Etoile Angers will meet higher ranked JA Vichy (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Quimper UJAP will play against La Rochelle (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
