Important game to mention about took place in Quakenbrueck. Eighth ranked Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (16-14) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging higher ranked Artland Dragons (19-11) 86-83 on Saturday evening. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Center Robert Oehle (209-1988) notched a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and New Zealand forward Matt Freeman (207-1997, college: UCSB) supported him with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Even 16 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists by American guard William Christmas (196-1996, college: CPP) did not help to save the game for Artland Dragons. Naturalized Croatian center Marko Bacak (210-1995) added 11 points and 7 rebounds. Five Artland Dragons players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven maintains eighth position with 16-14 record. Artland Dragons at the other side keep the third place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Karlsruhe PS. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven will play against higher ranked Phoenix Hagen (#6) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Artland Dragons will play against Muenster and hope to get back on the winning track.
