Second Stage Round 5: Uzhgorod - Vinnitsky Zubry 84-75

There was no surprise when 15th ranked Vinnitsky Zubry (2-3) was defeated on the road by eleventh ranked Uzhgorod (4-4) 84-75 on Saturday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-16. But Vinnitsky Zubry won second period 24-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Uzhgorod looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Vinnitsky Zubry's players. The best player for the winners was forward Denys Koshovets (202-1990) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Artem Pustovit (190-1991) chipped in 10 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Uzhgorod players scored in double figures. Guard Andriy Gutsaliuk (192-1996) produced 38 points (!!!) and 4 assists and forward Danylo Tarasyuk (195-2003) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Despite that victory Uzhgorod went down to thirteenth position due to points difference. Vinnitsky Zubry at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the fourteenth place with three games lost. Uzhgorod will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Vinnitsky Zubry will play against Chernigiv (#15) in Kyiv and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
