Second Stage Round 6: Aalst - Yoast United 97-83

There was no surprise when 7th ranked Dutch Yoast United (1-5) was defeated on the road by second ranked Belgian Okapi Aalst (5-1) 97-83 on Saturday. Okapi Aalst dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Yoast United's 30. They outrebounded Yoast United 51-31 including a 38-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Okapi Aalst looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Yoast United's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Okapi Aalst made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American point guard Jordan Walker (186-1997, college: Morehead St.) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points, 8 rebounds and 11 assists. Montenegrin Ivan Maras (207-1986) chipped in a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds. Four Okapi Aalst players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Vince Cole (198-1998, college: Coastal) who recorded 34 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and Cuban-Belgian point guard Sigfredo Casero-Ortiz (185-1997) added 23 points respectively. Despite that victory Okapi Aalst went down to eleventh position due to points difference. Yoast United lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth place with five games lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. Okapi Aalst will meet Den Helder (#19) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Yoast United will play against Liege Basket (#12) and hope to win that game.
