Kotka outgunned Kataja to force the decisive fifth game in the series. The game without a history. Kotka led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Strangely Kataja outrebounded Kotka 48-36 including a 21-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. The game was dominated by American players. Point guard Brandon Sly (180-1996, college: ASU) fired 22 points and 6 assists for the winners. Guard Roydell Brown (198-1998, college: McNeese St.) chipped in 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks. Five Kotka players scored in double figures. Guard Lamonte Turner (188-1997, college: Tennessee) produced 16 points and forward Galin Smith (206-1998, college: Maryland) added 14 points respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
