Second Stage Round 9: Lorient - Besancon 89-93

Undefeated Lorient (7-1) recorded its first loss at the home court. Hosts were defeated by ninth ranked Besancon (3-6) 93-89. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Lorient. Besancon made 18-of-22 charity shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Serbian swingman Nikola Knezevic (200-1999) nailed 25 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and Mali point guard Siriman Kanoute (181-2001) accounted for 18 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. American-Mali forward Ibrahim Djambo (209-1992, college: Hofstra) came up with 25 points and point guard Hugo Suhard (184-1992) added 15 points and 9 assists respectively for Lorient in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Besancon moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Lorient at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. Besancon will play against league's second-placed Rueil at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lorient will play against Andrezieux and hopes to get back on the winning track.
