Regular Season Round 26: SBA - La Solana 91-98

Not a big story in a game in Madrid where 14th ranked SBA (2-23) was defeated by twelfth ranked La Solana (6-19) 98-91 on Saturday. La Solana made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. La Solana outrebounded SBA 44-21 including a 34-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Mario Garcia had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 16 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized Dominican guard Sdenry Gonzalez (187-2002) chipped in 26 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (perfect from downtown making all six shots !!!) during the contest. Five La Solana players scored in double figures. Guard Victor Fernandez (190-1998) responded with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and Montenegrin forward Bodin Saranovic (196-2004) scored 24 points. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted La Solana maintains twelfth position with 6-19 record, which they share with Santa Cruz and Pinto Basket. SBA lost fifth consecutive game. SBA at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fourteenth place with 23 games lost. La Solana will meet at home higher ranked Alcala (#7) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. SBA's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Madrid to the arena Estudio.
