Regular Season Round 27: Padova V. - Ragusa 85-75

There was no surprise when 12th ranked Ragusa (11-16) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Padova V. (15-11) 85-75 on Sunday. Padova V. made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Ragusa turnovers. The best player for the winners was point guard Francesco Paolin (190-1995) who scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. The former international point guard Francesco De Nicolao (185-1993) chipped in 13 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 steals. Five Padova V. players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Franco Gaetano (202-1999, agency: Players Group) who recorded 27 points and 8 rebounds and naturalized Maltese center Kurt Cassar (208-1999) added 15 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Padova V. moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Ozzano. Loser Ragusa dropped to the eleventh position with 16 games lost. They share it with Gallarate and Crema. Padova V. will meet Palermo (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Ragusa will play against Lumezzane V. (#7) and hope to secure a win.
