Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Castello (14-15) was rolled over on the road by third ranked Coruna (20-9) 99-62 on Sunday. Coruna outrebounded Castello 41-18 including a 31-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 51.7 percentage. Coruna looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The best player for the winners was American-Cuban swingman Yunio Barrueta (196-1993, college: Barry, agency: BIG) who scored 24 points and 8 rebounds. Center Javier Vega (205-1988) chipped in 8 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Coruna players scored in double figures. Point guard Joan Faner (176-1990) produced 12 points and Dutch center Menno Dijkstra (213-1997, college: UC Riverside) added 9 points respectively for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Coruna maintains third place with 20-9 record having seven points less than leader Andorra. Loser Castello keeps the tenth position with 15 games lost. Coruna will meet Cantabria (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Castello will play against Melilla and hope to secure a win.
