Very important is a road loss of third ranked Belgian Kangoeroes (7-2) against sixth ranked Dutch Groningen (6-3) on Saturday night. Visiting Kangoeroes were crushed by Groningen in Groningen 73-48. The best player for the winners was forward Willem Brandwijk (204-1995, college: IUP) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Serbian-North Macedonian point guard Andrej Magdevski (192-1996, agency: Mansfield and Associates) chipped in 9 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Groningen players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was center Mattias Palinckx (202-1997) who recorded 12 points and 6 rebounds and DR Congolese-Belgian Wen Boss Mukubu (198-1983, college: UAB) added 8 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Groningen maintains sixth place with 6-3 record. Loser Kangoeroes keep the third position with two games lost. They share it with Oostende and Belfius Mons. Groningen will meet higher ranked Oostende (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kangoeroes will play against Leeuwarden and hope to secure a win.
