Regular Season Round 30: ALBA - Rostock 104-79
Date: April 23, 2023
BBL top team - ALBA Berlin (29-2) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed ninth ranked Seawolves (14-16) 104-79. They outrebounded Seawolves 38-24 including a 29-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. ALBA Berlin looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American-Croatian Jaleen Smith (190-1994, college: UNH) notched 21 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and Malte Delow (197-2001) supported him with 10 points and 8 rebounds. ALBA Berlin's coach Israel Gonzalez felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 22 points and 5 assists by American point guard JeQuan Lewis (185-1994, college: VCU, agency: Octagon Europe) did not help to save the game for Seawolves. His fellow American import Nijal Pearson (196-1997, college: Texas St.) added 12 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. ALBA Berlin have an impressive 11-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 29-2 record. Newly promoted Seawolves keep the ninth place with 16 games lost. ALBA Berlin will meet league's second-placed Telekom Baskets in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Seawolves will play against Bayern Muenchen (#3) and hope to secure a win.
